My Birthday Comments

As I turn 26 I realize that I have been blessed. Not just at this moment, but all my life. A great family, a mother that always has my back, a brother who is my best friend, and friends who only want to make each other better. God has given me the strength to change my life when things were going sour. He has given me the ability to see ahead and plan ahead and be dumb enough to be smart. In other words my eagerness to learn and ask questions has opened doors for me. I thank God for what he has done for me so far, and what he will continue to do for me from here on. Nobody can be perfect, but we all should strive to be persistent.

Birthdays are too selfish for me. Some people like to party and have that day be all about them. And that’s understood, I think everyone needs some time to relax and have a good time. But I want to start a new tradition on my birthday by giving to someone else. And having the people who want to give to me, also give to someone else. I hope to get better each year at this, but today its really simple.

I dedicate my birthday to the Big Brothers Big Sisters. If you would like to give me a gift for my birthday, I ask that it be in the form of a donation or volunteering for this organization. Helping kids realize they can still dream and achieve their goals despite the harsh obstacles that stand in their way.
